Cadena Ser and El Pais are the most popular media outlets among the Spanish public for keeping up to date on current affairs, according to results from a study carried out by the Spanish Sociological Research Centre (CIS) for the month of April.
32.4% of respondents preferred to listen to Cadena SER radio for news. The channel was followed, in order of preference, by Onda Cero (14.3%), Spanish National Radio -Radio 1- (10.3%), Cadena Cope (7.7%), RAC 1 (4.0%) , Catalunya Radio (3.2%) and Radio Euskadi (2.8%).
Among print press, El País ranks first with 16.3%, followed by El Mundo (8.6%), ABC (3.8%), La Nueva España (2.1%) La Razón (1.7%), Ultima Hora (1.4%), the Heraldo de Aragón and Norte de Castilla (1.3% in both cases).
Among the TV channels, TVE 1 (33.4%) came out on top, followed by Antena 3 Television (21.8%), Telecinco (11, 3%), TV3 (6.9%), La Sexta (3.2%), and Canal Sur (2.8%). Cuatro, Sogecable's free-to-air channel, was chosen by 5.2% of the audience.
The study also shows that, when it comes to news and current affairs, 67.7% of Spaniards watch the news on television every day, 25.9% tune in to the radio, and 25% read non-sports press. 13% go online for news and current affairs.
