Winners announced for the 14th edition of the EL PAÍS de los ESTUDIANTES schools competition

23-06-2015

The awards ceremony took place this afternoon in Madrid for the 14th edition of the EL PAÍS de los ESTUDIANTES schools competition (www.estudiantes.elpais.com), the program that fosters Journalism in the Classroom and which is sponsored by El País and Endesa. The scheme aims to promote teamwork and effort towards a specific goal: that of fostering freedom of expression and democratic values through journalism.

Nearly 400 students from the 18 finalist schools attended the awards ceremony, held at the headquarters of El País. Also present were representatives of El País and Endesa, as well as the jury of journalists who praised participants’ hard work and announced the winners.

Students from around Spain formed teams to write, lay out and illustrate their own newspapers over the course of the recently completed school year. EL PAÍS de los ESTUDIANTES allows participating students to work in either print or digital format, meaning that students come to understand that, although the basics are the same, the resources at their disposal and how these should be deployed, need to be adapted to each format.

The winning schools were:

1st Prize - I.E.S. Rosalía de Castro (Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña) for the newspaper SCQ +
