Premios ‘Grandes Profes, Grandes Iniciativas’

This year’s awards, given by the ATRESMEDIA Foundation, in collaboration with Santillana and Samsung, were aimed at recognizing the best projects by teachers and schools during the 2015-2016 academic year.

The ATRESMEDIA Foundation, has teamed up with Santillana and Samsung to promote educational excellence with the the ‘Grandes Profes, Grandes Iniciativas’ Awards (Great teachers, great initiatives).

Submissions for the awards opened on October 15, 2015. Now in their third year, these prizes seek to honor and promote the most inspiring, innovative, and highest impact projects carried out by teachers or schools during the school year, and that are aimed at improving education and the educational outcomes of students. 

After hours of intense deliberation at the headquarters of ATRESMEDIA, a jury of experts from various fields of education, as well as the business world, selected the winners in each of the five categories: 'Great initiatives for educational success' 'Great initiatives for values​​'; 'Great initiatives that change the classroom'; the 'Special Santillana Award for the promotion of reading' and the 'Special Samsung Award for digital transformation in the classroom'.

Exceptionally, due to the high quality of the initiatives presented, the jury awarded four special mentions. The gala awards ceremony will be held on June 9 in Madrid, at the auditorium of the Fundación Giner de los Ríos.

The jury entrusted with selecting the winners included: José Antonio Marina, president of Movilización Educativa; Felix Serrano, director of the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF); Alfonso Aguiló, president of the Spanish Confederation of Education Centers (CECE); Francisco Hortigüela, director of Corporate Citizenship, Communication and Institutional Relations at Samsung Spain; Maria Teresa Grence, content director of Santillana; Elisa Navas, president of the Fundación Giner de los Ríos; Carlos Magro, vice president of the Asociación Educación Abierta; José Iribas, director of Academic Expansion at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR); Mario Gutierrez, president of the trade union CSI-F; and Carmen Bieger, director of the Fundación ATRESMEDIA.
