The 40 Principales Awards promote solidarity among young people working for social change

30-11-2015

Young people, who make up the bulk of the audience of 40 Principales, represent the future of our country. And that’s why the station is committed to working with them to build a fairer, more respectful and supportive world. With this in mind, the 40 Principales Awards 2015, held last December at the Barclaycard Center in Madrid, gave voice to the social issues of most concern to listeners and users of 40 Principales. In this latest edition of the awards, young people were directly involved as key agents of change through the institution Entreculturas and its Youth Solidarity Network. All 40 Principales professionals worked tirelessly to publicize their good work, on air, online and on the social networks, as well as by participating in the NGO’s initiatives. What’s more, part of the proceeds from the gala event went to the project.

The Youth Solidarity  Network is a program for young people and by young people working for social change. More than 2,000 young people, aged between 12 and 18, work as activists in their own schools and in their immediate environment, championing  social justice and equality. Tony Aguilar attended a march held in Madrid to learn more about their initiative, gathering firsthand testimony from some of these young people and their teachers. You can see more in this vídeo.
