EL PAÍS wins three Lovie Awards

EL PAÍS has been honored with prizes in three categories at the Lovie Awards, given by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). The awards, among the most prestigious in the world, pay tribute to the best of the year on the Internet. This was the sixth edition of the prizes.

 The Librotea project won the silver medal in the Social and Community category for websites. This is an online book recommendation platform that allows readers to share their literary suggestions, as well as to get to know writers, literary critics, essayists and bloggers  The platform lets readers have a free online profile and create their own bookshelves, through which they can share their recommendations and favorite books with other users, follow other readers, share these shelves on social media, purchase recommended books and create

wish lists.

 

Fukushima, vidas contaminadas (Fukushima, contaminated lives), the first EL PAÍS report to be shot in 360 degrees, won silver in the category Internet Video, as well as the public-voted People’s Award. With the advent of this technology, which until now had been used chiefly in video games and advertising, EL PAÍS has positioned itself at the forefront of media that bring readers closer to the the places where news happens.

 

The EL PAÍS mobile application, a revamped tool that allows readers to access the news quickly and easily on their mobile devices, was awarded the bronze in the section for News and Entertainment in the Mobile Applications category.

 

The prizes will be awarded at a ceremony to be held in London on October 27.
