Festigame 2014 saw the presentation of novelties for all the major consoles. PlayStation premiered its DriveClub, a racing game that speeds through the north of Chile, in locations such as Arica and Putre.
Sony also announced that they will this year be rolling out installation in movie theaters, so gamers can enjoy PlayStation action on the big screen.
Microsoft was also present at Festigame 2014 to present their latest console, the Xbox One, which already has a release date in Chile, September 2.
Marianela Fuentealba, Category Manager for Xbox in Chile, said the new team had "completely changed the hard drive capacity, making it a 500-GB, 8-GB Ram console. It boasts a new, much more futuristic and elegant design, and can be placed horizontally thus allowing users to take better advantage of the in-built Blu-ray."
Also announced was the arrival in Chile of servers for the most popular online game in recent memory, the League of Legends, which promises more playing time for users. And Nintendo also gave attendees all the latest news on its classic Super Mario Bros.
But Festigame 2014 was about more than technology. Leading figures from the games world came to Chile to join the festival, and cosplay also had its own space.
Attendees and organizers were thrilled with the event’s success. Festigame’s head of content, Mauricio Soto, gave a very positive assessment of the four days of the country's largest games event.
"This year we put people’s experience center stage and concentrated on delivering a better fair, rather than trying to sell more tickets," he said.
