40 Principales joins tree-planting campaign

30-10-2009

Radio broadcaster 40 Principales has teamed up Volkswagen's CO2neutral.com and the Fundación + Arboles (More Trees) to run a road show which will travel throughout Spain over the months of October and November. The campaign is aimed at fighting climate change by planting thousands of trees.

The initiative hopes to encourage listeners to join in and do their bit by visiting the travelling exhibition on the environment and by planting a tree - while listening to all the best music from 40 Principales top DJs.

With this latest campaign, titled ¡Plántate! Ven y siembra vida (Come  and sow life), the Union Radio-owned broadcaster shows once again its commitment to the environment and to spreading a green message among the younger generations.

The initiative is part of the Internight Forests project, run by the environmental association Fundacion + Arboles. Over the course of 2009, the foundation has organized a number of successful tree-planting events with the help of music groups Revólver, La Oreja de Van Gogh y Estopa. Between them, they've planted 14,400 trees and sown 36,000 seeds.

The long-term goal is to plant a tree for every person in Spain -in other words, more than 40,000,000- while creating awareness on environmental and conservation issues among 40 Principales listeners.
