Awards ceremony for the Cinco Dias Awards for Business Innovation 2009

Business and finance daily Cinco Días will host the awards ceremony for the second annual Cinco Dias Awards for Business Innovation on Monday, November 11. The awards  honor the most innovative initiatives in the business world.

The prize-giving gala takes place at 8pm at Madrid's Círculo de Bellas Artes, in the Fernando de Rojas Theatre (Marqués de Casa Riera, 2).

On November 5 the jury announced the winners, who included: Most Innovative Business Initiative in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility: Fundación Telefónica, for its project  Educared-Proniño, aimed at eradicating child labor in Latin America. Most Innovative Business Initiative in the field of New Technologies: FCC (Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas), for its sustainable rubbish collection project which uses small hybrid-electric trucks that can service areas previously difficult to access. Most Innovative Business Initiative in association with a university: TEAMS, a spin-off of the University of Seville that has developed technology for the Airbus 380.

The jury led by Emilio Ontiveros, founder and president of Analistas Financieros Internacionales, included Ana Patricia Botín, president of BANESTO; Javier Monzón, president of Indra; José Núñez, president of Alquimia; Joaquín Estefanía, director of the UAM/El País school of journalism; and Jorge Rivera, director of Cinco Días.

The ceremony will be presented by PRISA president Ignacio Polanco. Afterwards, the scientist and biomedicine researcher Carlos Simón Vallés, scientific director of the Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad (the Valencian Institute for Infertility) and the Centro Superior de Alta Tecnología de Valencia (CSAT), will be giving a talk.

The awards, established last year to coincide with celebrations to mark 30 years of the Economy under Democracy, are sponsored by Gas Natural, Unión Fenosa, La Caixa and Repsol.
