CADENA Cadena SER increases audience and consolidates its lead in spanish radio with 4,688,000 listeners

First quarter figures from EGM show improved results for Cadena SER radio network and a growth of 124,000 listeners. With this latest increase, Cadena SER now has 4,688,000 listeners daily, Monday through Friday. The network holds a lead of more than 2,000,000 million listeners over Onda Cero and of 2,700,000 over COPE. Indeed Cadena SER has more listeners than both of its two immediate competitors combined. RNE is placed fourth in the ranking of spoken-word radio stations.

SER’s flagship programs each enjoy audiences of more than 1,000,000 listeners and SER’s sports programs (El Larguero, Carrusel Deportivo and SER Deportivos) are the network’s top-ranking programs and are leaders in their schedules.

Cadena SER is by far the audience’s favorite network

 Nearly 45 % of the audience tuning into the four main spoken-word radio stations in Spain listen to SER.

 Hoy por Hoy improves on its previous results. According to most recent EGM figures, the

program anchored by Pepa Bueno and Gemma Nierga once again registered more than three million listeners,  with a total of 3,158,000 compared to 2,021,000 for Onda Cero’s  'Herrera en la Onda'. SER enjoys a lead of more than 2,000,000 listeners over COPE every morning.

 

The news bulletin anchored by José Antonio Marcos, Hora 14, has become the most popular lunchtime news program on Spanish radio and posted its best results of the past four years with 705,000 listeners. The weekend news programs, anchored by Esther Bazan, recorded an audience of 401,000 and 386,000 listeners on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively.

 

 

La Ventana has also enjoyed spectacular success, with over a million listeners; in total, 1,036,000 people listen to Carles Francino in the afternoons. The gap between the show and  its nearest rivals continues to widen. La Ventana has more than twice as many listeners as Onda Cero’s 'Julia en la Onda’.

There is similar success for evening and nighttime programming. Angels Barceló’s Hora 25  has 1,273,000 daily listeners, far ahead of COPE’s 585,000 and Onda Cero’s 530,000

A vivir que son dos días has almost 2,000,000 listeners on Saturdays and has 1,743,000 on Sundays. The program, presented by Javier del Pino, has increased its lead over its rivals in the weekend morning slot.

 Macarena Berlin’s show, Hablar por Hablar, registered a daily audience of  437,000 listeners. Milenio 3 reached 532,000 listeners, and Los Toros, with Manolo Molés, reported 284,000 listeners.

 Sports on SER, unbeatable

 Jesus Gallego, presenter of SER Deportivos, achieved his best result of the past four years and continues to lead afternoon sports programming with 554,000 listeners.

El Larguero had a million listeners on weekdays. The program, anchored by José Ramón de la Morena has well over twice as many listeners as its nearest rival, COPE’s  'El Partido de las 12', in the ranking for evening sports programs. The program has 553,000 listeners on Saturdays, and on Sunday’s over a million. 

Carrusel Deportivo, is also audience-share leader in its time slot over the weekend, on both Saturdays and Sundays. The program, with Manu Carreño and José A. Ponseti remains the most popular weekend sports program with 1,437,000 listeners on Saturdays and 1,819,000 on Sundays.

 

SER once more proves unbeatable in sports programming on Saturday and Sunday nights. SER’s sports programming is audience leader from 3 pm to 1.30 am. On Saturday’s 1,752,000 listeners tune in, 201,000 more than the nearest competitor, COPE.  On Sundays, SER reaches 2,409,000 listeners -- 978,000 more than COPE

Top of the charts for music 

40 Principales and Cadena Dial continue to hold the top two positions in the ranking of music stations. 

40 Principales is the second most listened to radio station in Spain and ranks first among music channels . According to the latest EGM figures, 40 Principales has a total of 3,578,000 listeners daily, Monday through Friday. 

Anda Ya, the 40 Principales morning show led by Xavi Rodríguez, has also improved its results, attracting 74,000 new fans to reach a total of 1,698,000 listeners, making it the most popular music show on radio. The program, No te cortes, with Uri Sabat and Daniela Blume, has more than 484,000 listeners.Yu: no te pierdas nada, with Dani Mateo, leads in its time slot . 

Cadena Dial attracted 100,000 new listeners to reach an audience of 2,177,000 listeners. The program Atrévete, directed and presented by Jaime Cantizano, attracted 125,000 new listeners, giving it a total of 1,125,000.

Maxima FM has 770,000 listeners. m80 Radio reaches an audience of 612,000 listeners and Radiolé, 555,000 .

Robust figures for radio in general 

The first months of 2014 has seen radio audiences grow by 2.2 %. Every day, nearly 25 and a half million listeners tune in to radio in Spain.

Cadena SER enjoys a wide lead over competitors in online radio. According to comScore data released in March 2014, Cadenaser.com has almost 1,400,000 unique users, placing it well ahead of the second-ranking internet radio provider.
