Cadena SER presents its 2011-2012 schedule

01-09-2011

4,038,000 listeners every day tune in to Cadena SER and the goal is to strengthen and extend our lead. As noted by the director general of SER, Alejandro Nieto, "general formats are never leaders and yet SER is in all slots," and has been since 1999. "Our responsibility,” added Alejandro Nieto, “is to continue being a leader, no easy task. All those here at SER have done a great job."

The formula for achieving this goal is what has made the radio station Cadena SER Spain's most listened to broadcaster: for news, opinion, sports, magazine programs, participation and local programming. All this plus one key factor, highlighted by Nieto: innovation. SER is to launch new programs this season, taking on new challenges and putting new voices on air:  in fact 50% of our analysts and pundits are new.

Hoy por Hoy, directed by Carles Francino is to redouble its focus on news. It will be more flexible and in tune with developing stories; “SER is committed to good journalism, whoever wins, whoever governs. " At night, Hora 25 will offer new points of view and address current concerns. With Angels Barceló at the helm, the program hopes to get to grips with the day’s stories. "It will be a difficult season, but exciting. We, as journalists, have to do our jobs responsibly," said Angels. Among the many new voices are Luis García Montero, Jose Antonio Martin Pallín, Juan Echanove and Angeles Caso.

This season’s news bulletins will also be improved: Jose Antonio Marcos will be presenting the morning news bulletins as well as Hora 14 and Pedro Blanco will be bringing us the evening news. At noon Carles Francino will join Jose Antonio Marcos for a short news program, the brand-new Hora 12. "This year we have a new challenge: in addition to telling people what’s happening, we’ll be helping them understand why it’s happening," explained Marcos.

SER’s top magazine format shows are Germma Nierga’s La Ventana and Montserrat Dominguez’s A Vivir que sin dos dias. “We going  to make people laugh more than ever. We want to take their minds off the tough times," says Gemma. Likewise, Montserrat Dominguez believes at the weekend "though there has to be news - the news doesn’t take a day off - there also has to be entertainment." SER’s director general has highlighted the quality of guest collaborators that dot the schedule: Juanjo Millas, Eduard Punset, Boris Izaguirre, Javier Coronas, Carlos Boyero and Juanma López-Iturriaga. "Their contributions”, says Nieto, “will prove decisive in in the network’s reults."

More humor and drama this seasion

Cadena SER is adding a new comedy show to its schedule: El Mundo Today, which will air every Saturday at 3.30pm. Moreover, the "good vibes" as defined by Nieto, will be spread throughout the schedule: Gomaespuma, Si amanece nos vamos, Los bordes del área, Especialistas Secundarios, Juan Carlos Ortega and Todo por la Radi with Toni Martínez, to name but a few.

A new film program will air every Saturday just before Carrusel, with  Maria Guerra adapting her successful blog, La Script. Alejandro Nieto has announced that Cadena SER also remains committed to radio plays this season after the success of Bicycles are for Summer, which was  acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. SER will repeat the experience  both in Madrid and in other cities in Spain.

... And more sport

Cadena SER has strengthened its sports team, led by Jose Ramon de la Morena, who said "this year sport is going to be better than ever." The incorporation of Manu Carreno and Jose Antonio Ponseti at the helm of Carrusel  shows the commitment to quality and also to the future of radio sports, says Nieto. Carlos Martinez will be narrating the matches and will be joined by a great team of collaborators: Valdano, Michel, Kiko, Cañizares, Gerard Lopez, Jordi Cruyff, Robinson, Maldini, Relaño and Ramón Besa. A team that will, says Carreño, ensure "a lot of sports and fun."
