Cadena SER unveils festive schedule for Christmas

Highlights include the Christmas draw for the National Lottery on Hoy por Hoy with Pepa Bueno and Gemma Nierga, the King's Speech on Hora 25, Jesus Gallego's Christmas Carol on Carrusel Deportivo, brand new radio drama with Our Town, New Year's Eve with Especialistas Secundarios, Rafa Baker in 'A cierta distancia', Sonia Ballesteros and Jon Sistiaga with 'Un mundo en que fijarse', 'The history of rock in 15 covers' with Iñaki de la Torre and radio classic 'War of the Worlds' in the 'Todo por la radio' version with Toni Martínez.

 

Cadena SER kicks off on Monday its special Christmas schedule with the draw for the National Lottery. Between 9 am and 12 noon, Hoy por Hoy will host a special edition with Pepa Bueno and Gemma Nierga with a live feed from the draw. More than 40 professionals, from Cadena SER stations throughout the country will be teaming up to bring listeners all the nail-biting excitement and hope of Spanish lottery's biggest day the year.

December 24 and 25

On Hora 25, Angels Barceló will be discussing King Felipe VI's first ever Christmas speech with analysts Javier Aroca, Milagros Perez Gimenez and Paco Oliva Aleman.

Hablar por Hablar, with Adriana Moruelos, will be broadcasting live --  from 1.30 to 4.30 am -- a special edition of the program for all those wishing to spend Christmas Eve in good company.

Christmas morning kicks off with the best pop, rock, soul and a touch of jazz with Rafa Fuentes. 'Jazztamos aqui' serves up a cool blend of contemporary jazz with pop and soul with everything from  George Benson and Quincy Jones to Michael Franks and Steely Dan, and from Anita Baker to Take Six.

'SER Historia Navidad' airs at 7 am. Nacho Ares will be leading a special program by history program SER Historia, which will explore, with the participation of experts Antonio Piñero, Javier Alonso and Eugenio Gómez, the mystery surrounding the figure of Jesus Christ.

Following the success of last year's radio play 'Christmas Carol', Cadena SER is set once again to treat listeners to radio drama, this year with a brand new radio play. 'Our Town' by Thornton Wilder, has been adapted for radio by Juan Cavestany and will feature the voices of José María Pou, Irene Escolar, Carmen Machi, Adam Jezierski, Juan Echanove, Javier Cámara, Elvira Minguez, Edu Soto, Ruben Frias, Ivan Jara, Mónica Buiza, Rodrigo Poison, José Luis García Pérez, Pepe Viyuela, Javier Gutierrez, Esteban Massana, Javier del Pino, Ignacio Gijón, Paul Cavestany and cameos from Pepa Bueno, Pilar Matas, Gemma Nierga, Carles Francino, Macarena Berlin and Iñaki Gabilondo. The play airs on December 25 at 12 noon on Cadena SER.

'A cierta distancia: En la frontera' with Rafa Panadero, is broadcast at 7am, and brings in-depth analysis to news and current affairs.

Sports program Carrusel Deportivo goes on air at 4pm with its Christmas special, an adaptation of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, and adapted by Jesús Gallego and that is sure to surprise listeners with its festive humor and cast of famous sports voices.

'Antes de que sea tarde: la cultura de lo efimero (Before it's too late: the culture of the ephemeral)' with Ana Uslé at 7 pm, will be dedicated to ephemeral culture such as once-a-month markets, films shown just once in a given location -- in short, all those unique now-or-never experiences.

At 9 pm, Sonia Ballesteros and Jon Sistiaga will be bringing us 'Un mundo en que fijarse', which takes a look at football violence through Argentine hooligans. The program will broadcast excerpts from the report "Barras Bravas" originally aired by Canal + and experts will look into the roots and causes of violence and aggressive behavior in the stands.



December 28

 
At 4 pm, Carlos G. Cano, director of Play Gastro at Cadenaser.com will be hosting a special program looking back at the highlights from the food world over 2014 in 'Play Gastro: Destino 2015'. The program will also be looking ahead to what's on the menu in the coming year, recalling the best of TV from the past year and recommending the best of foodie tourism.

At 6 pm Toni Martinez is set to thrill with his version of HG Wells 'War of the Worlds', in 'Bienvenido Mr Marte', the Todo por la Radio version of the sci-fi classic.

From 9pm, David Broncano will be hosting spoof show 'Inocentes'. Broncano, Quequé, Ignatius and Maria Gomez will be hosting this unique and satirical  ‘anti-climate’ benefit gala for all those suffering the effects of climate.

December 31 and January 1

Especialistas Secundarios return with 'A por uvas' to see out the old year and ring in 2015 with plenty of fun and laughs between 11 pm and 3 am. The trio of comedians won’t be spending the big night alone and will be inviting all the top names from SER’s comedy and music programs to join them for the celebrations.

At 3 am 'The history of rock in 15 covers' takes over to review the history of legendary Rolling Stone magazine, witness to the most crucial moments of music and culture. The editor-in-chief of the Spanish edition of the magazine, Iñaki de la Torre, will be looking back over the history of rock music through songs, magazine covers and historic interviews. Listeners  will get another chance to tune in to the program on January 1st at 4 pm.

After the music, Javier Gregori will host a special program given over entirely to the climate change summit. '2015: Year of the climate' will focus on next year’s Paris summit to find measures to combat climate change.

As the first day of 2015 dawns , Angeles Afuera will offer listeners the traditional year in review special, ‘Resumen del año’ from 6 am to 7 am, looking back over the highlights of 2014.

This will be followed by ‘Todo por el 15' with Toni Martinez, from 7 am onwards. For the third consecutive year, listeners will be able to hear the very best of the classic comedy show ‘Todo por la radio’, with the very best best sketches re-performed live on air. Javier Coronas, Especialistas Secundarios, El Mundo Hoy, Susana Ruiz and Toni Martinez, will be sharing this first morning of the year with listeners of Cadena SER.

At 8 am, José Antonio Marcos, along with the heads of Cadena SER’s newsrooms will offer listeners 'Claves 15', which will analyze key trends and news for the coming year.
