DIGITAL + continued to grow in January. Of the nearly 30,000 new subscribers in January, 10,662 signed up to the multi-channel satellite and DTT package, a total turnaround from January 2010 which saw a drop of 15,137 subscribers. The availability of CANAL + through Telecable, Orange and ONO networks has attracted 18,806 new subscribers.

ARPU, average revenue per subscriber of the platform, was 41.64 euros, compared to EUR 41.49 a year ago.

January confirms the trend of the last quarter of 2010. DIGITAL + now shows five months of net growth in the number of customers. Especially noteworthy is the performance of CANAL + Liga, which now has 912,453 subscribers.

Much of 2011's early success is due to the public's appetite for iplus, the exclusive DIGITAL + decoder that allows users to control live broadcasts, making it possible to stop, fast forward or rewind the picture, record up to 250 hours of programming and enjoy over 20 channels in high definition 3D. The iplus is now in 319,381 households, representing 18% of the subscriber base.

Also via iplus, "Digital + a la carte" was launched in January, a new service offering video on demand via the Internet, offering subscribers the opportunity to enjoy all CANAL+ programs whenever they want, without having to program recording, plus a wide range of films, series and documentaries, which can be downloaded and stored on the hard disk of 500 gigabytes incorporated in iplus. In addition, DIGITAL + successfully diversified the formats in which it can be received. The application for the iphone or ipad has already clocked up over 167,000 downloads and 56,000 on PCs.

CANAL + remains committed to the highest quality in all its programming. In March it is set to air Crematorio, an in-house production about corruption in Spain, starring José Sancho. The channel has also has signed a deal with HBO allowing CANAL + subscribers to exclusively enjoy all its series and movies. In May, as a result of this agreement, CANAL + will broadcast Game of Thrones, based on the saga by George RR Martin, a sweeping fantasy epic.

As for 2012 ... The Champions League. The exclusive football broadcast rights acquired by DIGITAL + will bring football to new heights of quality. Only on DIGITAL +  will it be possible to watch each day's matches simultaneously on HD channels and enjoy the 3D experience.
