The EL PAIS newspaper application achieved the highest score placing them among the best 10 newspaper apps on the iMonitor ranking.

The EL PAÍS application for iPad scored the highest ranking by iMonitor. According to these results, EL PAÍS is the only Spanish newspaper that appears among the top ten brands in the ranking. Other newspapers in the top ten ranking include BILD HD, The Herald Sun, The Wall Street Journal, MailOnline, The Age, The Courier Mail, The SMH and The Sunday Times.

The iMonitor ranking, prepared by the consulting company McPheters&Company published this week the results in which they evaluated 3.500 applications from the major media companies in Western Europe and the main English speaking markets.

The list is based on the iMonitor system in which scores application based on its design, functionality and use of rich media. Each variable is evaluated on a 5 point scale and added up to a maximum of 15 points. The highest rating was 14,5 points and it was shared by 10 publications, in which EL PAÍS is included.

EL PAÍS has been a precursor in the strategy of taking all its contents to all devices, improving access required by today´s readers: information anytime anywhere. The release of the iPad application in November 2010, represented an important change in how to bring high quality content closer to the user.  In addition to the eye catching design, the iPad application improved the experience of navigating by sections, it gave the flow of last minute news and allowed to share information. For the past year, the navigability improvements, content offer and services have been taking place.

Per Mr. Javier Moreno, Director EL PAÍS, "We´ve made a great effort to include personality, criteria and diversity of EL PAÍS in our iPad application. In addition to all the news, thematic blogs photo galleries and videos. The application offers the latest information feed in real time, which is fed from the continuous editorial journalism from the newspaper and correspondents in order to keep the information strain. It is the paper´s compromise: to employ technology in a continuous evolution to provide  the best quality journalism service."

According to Mr. Kamal Bherwani, PRISA´s Chief Digital Officer and PRISA Digital´s CEO: "The success of the EL PAÍS iPad application is just the beginning of a new era for PRISA.  We will continue to innovate in order to bring our customers the best digital products and experiences".
