Newspaper El País strengthened its lead position among the non-giveaway press in February, with circulation hitting a daily average of 430,177 copies (Monday to Friday), according to data, due to be certified, from the auditing bureau Oficina de Justificación de la Difusión (OJD).
Proof of the lead enjoyed by PRISA's daily paper is the gap of 103,000 copies between it and it's nearest rival, which has a figure of 326,856. The distance between both papers is greater still when it comes to the Sunday edition, in which case, El País has a circulation figure of 629,226 copies against the competitor's 446,116.
