José Luis Sainz is appointed CEO of PRISA Radio

04-10-2012

José Luis Sainz has been appointed CEO of PRISA Radio and SER by the Boards of Directors of both companies, which have held meetings under the chairmanship of Augusto Delkáder. Sainz will combine his role as chief executive of radio with his current responsibilities as head of PRISA Noticias.

José Luis Sainz began his career at Arthur Andersen and joined El País in 1989. In 1997 he became a deputy to the managing director of PRISA. He subsequently became managing director of Cadena SER, CEO of Prisacom, Pretesa and Plural Entertainment. In 2009 he was appointed managing director of national media at Grupo Vocento and he is currently executive chairman of the press division of PRISA and CEO of El País.

This latest appointment is a response to the challenges facing the news and information areas of PRISA, the acceleration of digital migration and the realignment of the company’s commercial policy.

José Luis Sainz is replacing Javier Pons, who in his two and a half years at the helm of

PRISA Radio consolidated audience lead, oversaw digital transformation and overhauled radio content in those countries where the company has broadcasts. Yesterday the general meeting of PRISA Radio SER partners expressly approved his management and expressed appreciation for the important work he has carried out.

Prisa Radio is Prisa’s radio company and is focussed on broadcasting news, entertainment and sports. It is the world’s largest Spanish-language radio group with more than 26 million listeners, seven million internet users and more than 1,200 stations, either directly owned or associates, in ten countries including Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, the U.S., Spain, México, Panamá, Ecuador and Guatemala. It is a top performer in radio markets, with leading radio brands such as Caracol Radio, W Radio, Cadena SER, ADN Radio Chile, Radio
