40 Principales and Ballantine's last night had the honor of revealing the nominees in the twelve categories of the 40 Principales Awards 2013 at a spectacular party held in the Teatro Kapital.. The event, attended by famous faces from the worlds of cinema, TV and music, was hosted by Xavi Rodríguez (Anda Ya), Tony Aguilar (Del 40 al 1), Uri Sàbat y Daniela Blume (No te cortes), Iñaki Urrutia y Cristina Pedroche (Yu: no te pierdas nada), and Cristina Boscá and Jorge Sánchez, presenters at 40 Principales and was enlivened by performances from Dani Martín, Melendi, Soraya, Sweet California, Auryn, Rasel and Pablo López

The 40 Principales Awards 2013 will be handed out at the gala ceremony to be held on December 12, 2013 at the Palacio de Deportes in Madrid. The chief sponsor of the Awards is Ballantine's, committed once again to the hottest national and international music.

The net proceeds from the sale of tickets to the gala will go to project  ‘El Árbol es Vida’ (Trees are Life), an event of exceptional public interest organized by the Fundación Española de la Madera (the Spanish Timber Foundation), which promotes a sustainable culture of trees and timber by planting 10 million trees across Spain, thereby fighting climate change and protecting the future of the planet .

The nominees for the 40 Principales Awards 2013 have been selected from among all those artists and record labels who have been broadcast by the radio network at least once between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013. The list of nominees was made based on three criteria: playtime on the 40 Principales radio network , the results of market research conducted by the broadcaster and the sales of each artist.

The 40 Principales Awards, which every year pay tribute to the work of the most important artists of the year, are a benchmark for music-industry accolades nationally and internationally and are awarded by 40 Principales -- the leading music radio network in the Spanish-speaking market and present in 11 countries. They are also the only music awards in Spain in which the public chooses the winners from among the nominees in most of the categories.
