PRISA JOINS THE UNICEF CAMPAIGN 'CUMPLEDÍAS' AGAINST CHILD MALNUTRITION

30-11-2012

PRISA is actively supporting the UNICEF España campaign 'Cumpledías', which aims to raise public awareness of the consequences of child malnutrition that affects millions of children worldwide. This year the campaign focuses on child survival and ensuring that children live years rather than mere days and can thus fully develop their potential.

PRISA hopes to help channel the spirit of solidarity that exists among its professionals and the general public in order to foster their voluntary cooperation in social projects aligned with the principles and values that the group champions. Through its media, the group aims to raise awareness that even small donations can finance the day to day treatment of a child with severe acute malnutrition. Simply send the SMS RETO UNICEF to 28028.

To promote the initiative, PRISA has launched a major campaign involving all its media: television, radio, print and Internet. The awareness campaign starts next December 1 on the radio network SER; on Canal + TV programs, especially sports programs such as the football  Derby on December 1 and the NBA games; in the pages of El País, Cinco Días and AS; and the group’s online media. In addition, the group will be encouraging the participation of all its professionals in Spain via internal communication channels and the company's corporate websites.

Another key aspect of this campaign is the involvement of schools. Santillana is collaborating with UNICEF to publicize the campaign through various activities on its range of educational platforms: Santillana, e-vocación and the Ineverycrea portal, where teachers will find all the information they need to discuss the campaign with their students..

Thanks to PRISA’s involvement in the campaign, which ends on February 28, UNICEF will be able to move forward with its comprehensive strategy to improve the nutrition of mothers and their children through prevention projects, as well as promote changes in their socio-cultural milieu and in the medical treatment of malnutrition.
