PRISA Radio overhauls structure to commit to International, Digital And Music Growth

Alejandro Nieto continues as Director for Spain, Pedro Antón as Chief Finance Resource Officer, and Nacho Azcoitia as Chief Digital Officer.

With this reorganization, the CEO of PRISA Radio, José Luis Sainz, expects to consolidate and strengthen PRISA’s radio business

PRISA Radio, the PRISA company focused on news, music, entertainment and sports, is overhauling its structure by creating five divisions: Digital, Spain, International, Music, and Finance and Resources.

International radio, with Andrés Cardó at the helm, will spearhead strategy, business and the marketing of the company in the Americas, a market where PRISA Radio enjoys a privileged position that it now hopes to consolidate and develop.

Alejandro Nieto, Director General of Radio in Spain, will continue to oversee and lead the modernization process already underway, and will maintain the market lead enjoyed by the company. Meanwhile, Francisco Vélez has been named as Director of the Broadcasting Network and Juan Carlos Chaves has been appointed new Director of the Music Channels.

Nacho Azcoitia, PRISA Radio’s Chief Digital Officer (CDO), will continue to lead the digital transformation of the business in the eight countries where the company has operations.

Sandra Rotondo is to head the Music division, which integrates music radio,  Planet Events, brand development and all businesses related to music, especially digital.

Pedro Antón remains in charge of the finance and resources division, with responsibility for Finance, Administration, Management Control, Human Resources and Systems, both in Spain and internationally.

 

Andrés Cardó is an Economics and Humanities graduate from the the Pontifical Catholic  University of Peru (Universidad Pontificia Católica de Perú). He also holds an EMBA from Madrid’s IESE. He began his career at PRISA in 1990. He has been managing director of Santillana in Brazil, a position he combined with that of managing director at publishing house Editora Moderna. He was also Country Manager in Brazil until 2010, when he was appointed Director of Corporate Development, Sales and Marketing of PRISA and, a year later, Chief Operating Officer of PRISA.

Alejandro Nieto is a journalist and Industrial engineer. He also studied the Advanced Management Program at the University of Los Andes in Bogota. He has developed his career chiefly in the world of radio. At Radio Caracol he directed both music and current affairs programs until he was appointed Assistant Manager of Programming for Radio Caracol in 2003. In 2005 he moved to the USA to work on the expansion of PRISA Radio there as Vice President of Programming, and in 2006 he was appointed PRISA Radio’s director of conventional radio. Since December 2011 he has been managing director of SER.

Pedro Antón holds a degree in Naval Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and an EMBA from IESE. He was COO of JPMorgan in Spain, deputy CFO at Telefónica España and deputy CFO and head of management control at Telefónica Brazil.. He later headed the finance and resources division at the Spanish technology multinational "OESIA" and the construction machinery rental company "HUNE". Since April 2012 he has worked as Chief Finance Resource Officer of PRISA Radio.

Sandra Rotondo holds a degree in Neurobiology and a Masters in Business Management and Marketing from the Instituto Empresa in Madrid. She has worked as director of RCA, marketing director at Ariola and product manager at BMG Spain. She was also responsible for the promotion and image of the National Classical Theatre Company for 3 years and, since 1999, she has served as managing director of Planet Events -- PRISA and RLM’s events promoter.

Nacho Azcoitia has a law degree and a diploma in Business Administration from ICADE, a Masters in Business Management and Marketing from the Instituto Empresa in Madrid and a Masters in Advertising Management from Madrid’s Complutense University. He was commercial director at Excite Spain and at MSN-Microsoft Iberia until 2006, when he was named managing director of Yahoo Spain-Italy. After three years at the US multinational, he was made managing director of CARAT Spain. In late 2011 he was appointed chief marketing executive for Vocento’s digital division. He has been PRISA Radio’s Chief Digital Officer since January 2012.
