"EL PAÍS is wherever you are"

06-11-2009

El País has launched the campaign EL PAÍS is wherever you are, which is inspired by the song No hay nadie como tú (There's nobody like you) by Puerto Rican band Calle 13, and winners of the Latin Grammys at Las Vegas. The musical duo, made up of René Pérez and Eduardo Cabra, made off with five of the night's big awards, one of them for Best Alternative Song -which has been chosen as the inspiration for El País's latest campaign.

El País and Calle 13 have thus teamed up for a worldwide campaign aimed, for the first time, at all Spanish speakers, wherever they are. The campaign will be rolled out across print media, online, on mobile phones and Kindle in the areas of culture, entertainment, sports and current affairs, and via services such as the weather, translator, dictionary and maps. The campaign will be delivered through video and photo galleries to readers - who'll be able to express their own opinions while receiving all the best Spanish-language information only a truly global newspaper can offer. Because EL PAÍS is wherever you are.

All too aware that readers wish to access information via multiple channels and formats, El País has made a commitment to multi-distribution of content across all types of media channels: from RSS feeds to tailor-made platforms for mobile phone devices and ever-popular widgets. El País was not only the first leading Spanish media outlet to develop a version for Kindle, but also pioneered an iPhone application, thus allowing a whole generation of bloggers to create their own channels across social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

The campaign, designed by El País's marketing team and produced by Telson, is focussed on the internet and covers Spain, all of Latin America and the Spanish-speaking market in the US.

Via www.elpaisestadondeestastu.com and the social networks of the same name, any El País reader, any Calle 13 fan or any inquisitive user can watch the video clip made by the newspaper and the musical performers and then actively interact and participate in an ambitious contest by preparing their own version of the song EL PAÍS is wherever you are. Calle 13 will pick the winners of the fantastic prizes.
