The presenter and director of La Voz de la Noche (The Voice of the Night), Marilo López Garrido, picked up the Peace Embassy award on 20 November 20 in Buenos Aires on behalf of her program, broadcast by Radio Continental, PRISA Radio’s station in Argentina. It is the first time that a radio broadcaster has received such recognition, awarded under the auspices of the UN and UNESCO.
The Foundation Mil Milenios de Paz also honored the presenter individually as Peace Ambassador for her humanitarian work and her efforts to raise awareness of and promote Human Rights, Harmony and Peace, which she has endeavored to do through her media career and through her clear philanthropic commitment to help the most disadvantaged.
"This appointment is testament to the hard work I've been doing for many years with my team, so that people will understand that peace is a matter that concerns each and every one of us individually and that when we attack someone, the problem is actually inside each of us. The only way to bring peace to the world is by becoming aware of the infinite power within each one of us to do make it happen. Peace is not a political issue nor the responsibility of someone else. Peace is a personal attitude, it is an active decision to look at the world around us from another standpoint. Peace is the only possible path to peace."
La Voz de la Noche, broadcast by Radio Continental, a Grupo PRISA station, accepts this award for its Service to the Community and for its work to promote culture and education in the field of Peace and Human Rights.
"It is impossible for Radio to go into people’s homes without feeling their heartbeat on the other side of the door. So this is everyone's business. I’d especially like to thank Radio Continental (PRISA ), which supports this particular way of doing radio, based primarily on human values."
