  • Cadena SER sees its audience climb for its flagship news and entertainment programs
  • SER’s sports programs remain unrivalled,  both on weekdays and at the weekend
  • A vivir que son dos días, with Javier del Pino, achieved record audiences of more than two million listeners on weekend mornings

PRISA Radio reaches a total audience of 11,554,000 listeners.

According to latest EGM figures, Cadena SER has kicked off 2015, just like it closed 2014, as the undisputed leader of Spanish radio. SER reported 4,655,000 listeners on weekdays, a two-million-plus lead over Onda Cero, nearly three million over COPE, and nearly three and a half million listeners over RNE. Out of the four major radio networks in Spain, SER accounts for 45% of the total audience.

SER sees its audience climb for its flagship news and entertainment programs

Hoy por Hoy, with Pepa Bueno and Gemma Nierga, increased its audience and, for a second consecutive quarter, surpassed 3 million listeners, with 3,117,000 people tuning into SER during the morning in Spain. The lead over Onda Cero and COPE is 1,046,000 and 2,137,000, respectively.

Hora 14, led by José Antonio Marcos, is the leading lunchtime news program with 570,000 listeners. Weekend news, led by Esther Bazán, registered an audience of 516,000 listeners on Saturdays and 331,000 on Sundays.

Carles Francino once again improved audience figures for a second consecutive quarter. La Ventana reported 924,000 listeners, an increase over the previous EGM survey and his program has widened its gap over its main competitor.

SER’s evening and nighttime news programs, with Angels Barceló, also widened their lead. 1,250,000 people listen every night to Hora 25. This represents almost 45% of the total audience for the four main evening news programs.

Javier del Pino had record audiences at the helm of A vivir que son dos días, with his program surpassing for the first time ever the two-million-listener mark, on both Saturdays and Sundays, with 2,095,000 and 2,028,000 listeners tuning in on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively. The figure for Saturday positions A vivir que son dos días as the second-most listened to radio program  in Spain, behind Hoy por Hoy and ahead of Herrera en la Onda.

Hablar por Hablar with Macarena Berlin registered  438,000 daily listeners. Milenio 3 had 387,000 listeners, and Los Toros, with Manolo Moles, stood at 270,000.

Sports on SER remain unbeatable

SER Deportivos with Francisco José Delgado 'Pacojó' had 463,000 listeners.

El Larguero,  with José Ramón de la Morena, holds steady over the one million mark, with 1,007,000 listeners, and has well over twice as many listeners as its nearest rival in the nighttime sports slot.

Thanks to the Carrusel Deportivo’s commitment to a new way of narrating live sport, its improved sports analysis with a solid team of collaborators, and its engagement with fans on social networks, the popular sports show, with Jesús Gallego, remains the top-ranking such show on both Saturday and Sunday, with 1,424,000 and 1,628,000 listeners, respectively. This lead is all the more remarkable given that the show’s rivals broadcast for two hours longer on both Saturday and Sunday.

Top of the charts for music

40 Principales has almost 3,000,000 fans. Anda Ya, the 40 Principales morning show led by Dani Moreno, remains the most listened to music program with 1,662,000 listeners. With these results, PRISA Radio’s formats together attract a total of 11,554,000 listeners, a 47% share of the audience, ie almost one out of every two people in Spain choose a PRISA Radio station for news and entertainment.
