Santillana launches new catalog of 1,000 online science videos for schools

[ES][OR] Santillana presenta su nuevo catálogo de 1000 vídeos online de Ciencias para centros educativosTwig, the British producer of educational films for schools, and Santillana, have signed an agreement for the distribution of over 1,000 science-themed videos tailor-made following the publishing house’s strict educational criteria.

The videos, both original and specifically adapted to secondary-level education, bring together the most striking visual content from the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Sciences in Spanish, using material from leading  film archives around the world, including BBCNHKCBS and NASA.

The initiative represents a further step towards the integration of digital content into the classroom, with Santillana-Twig offering a catalog of over 1,000 videos tailored to meet the needs of students at ESO and Bachillerato level in order to stimulate the learning process in the selected disciplines.

These audio-visual resources are complemented by learning material that raises questions and provides activities to help students reflect more deeply on the subjects learned. To reinforce the concepts, the material is accompanied by a summary, a visual glossary, downloadable images, labeled and unlabeled diagrams and audio transcripts. Teachers can use the teaching guide to explore the wide range of possibilities offered by each resource to support their work in class.

Schools may hire licenses that will give them access so that the videos may be shown in the classroom. In addition, students can later watch the content again online at home in order to learn more or revise the concepts studied in class.

The webpage http://santillana.twig-world.com gives access  to all the products, developed by a team of specialists from Twig and over 100 teachers from different disciplines who guarantee the academic standards of the project. The films, complete with engaging visuals to stimulate the learning process, can be viewed on digital whiteboards, computers and mobile devices.

The website offers a powerful search system that allows users to create links between content of interest. Users can also access the videos through a content map as well as via the glossary of scientific terms.

From how the human body works to how a rainbow is formed or what electricity and sound is, it’s all here in stunning audiovisual format, appropriate  both to the needs of teachers and students.
