The Ondas Awards celebrate their 60th anniversary with the launch of Radio Ondas

The Premios Ondas, the Ondas Awards, Spain’s oldest and most prestigious awards for radio and television this year celebrate their 60th Anniversary. Over the past 60 years more than 1,500 Ondas Awards have paid tribute to the most outstanding professionals and most exceptional projects in the radio and audiovisual sectors, fostering and encouraging excellence and innovation. And to commemorate and celebrate the 60th anniversary, Cadena SER is rolling out a series of special initiatives that that will run until the day of the Awards. First, the creation of Radio Ondas, a special radio station that will allow listeners to enjoy prize-winning programs just as they were originally broadcast.. 

Every day throughout this week, and regularly from next week on and in the lead-up to the Gala , listeners will be able to relive and enjoy --  online and via the Cadena SER mobile app -- 12 hours of unforgettable programs that are part of the history of radio such as ‘Buenos días, Señor’, ‘Cabalgata fin de semana’, ‘Gente importante’, ‘El loco de colina’, ‘La saga de los Porretas’, ´La verbena de la Moncloa´, ‘Consultorio de Doña Elena Francis’, ‘Ustedes son formidables’, ‘Hora 14: los primeros momentos del 11S’, and ‘Ama Rosa’,

 Ángeles Afuera, head of Archives at Cadena SER, will be providing introductions and commentary to this treasure trove of Spanish radio history -- complete with ads and jingles from times past. 

Radio Ondas is Cadena SER’s special gift to listeners, one that will take them down memory lane to the nostalgia of a bygone era when radio, just as now, offered companionship, news, entertainment and service.

To commemorate the anniversary of the awards, from September 9 to November 19 Cadena SER is broadcasting a series of special reports on the most outstanding programs and personalities to have won the prize over the years, such as ‘Informe Semanal’, Matías Prats, ‘Encarna de noche’ and Jesús Hermida. By tuning in to our programs  Hoy por Hoy, La Ventana, and Hora 25, listeners will given an insight into the history of these prestigious awards.
