PRISA partners with Forética to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace



The JOBS 2030: Future of Work project aims to promote people-centered digital transformation.


PRISA is joining the JOBS 2030: Future of Work project, a Forética-led initiative which seeks to foster sustainable growth while guaranteeing diversity and inclusion in the workplace. PRISA thus reaffirms its commitment to decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), one of its priority objectives.

The project, which was presented on Wednesday during a virtual meeting, is aligned with the European Commission’s Pact for Skills, and aims to support and and give greater visibility to initiatives by businesses with regard to fair and inclusive employment, especially after the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. The flagship initiative also seeks to tackle the main challenges that society faces with regard to digital transformation, paying special attention to society’s most disadvantaged.

As Forética points out, youth unemployment (of people aged under 25) in Spain stands at 40% – well above the European average (17%), according to data from the European Commission. What’s more, people with disabilities are almost twice as likely to be at risk of financial poverty than people without disabilities, according to the ILO. The promotion of business initiatives that foster the inclusion of the most disadvantaged is thus more urgent than ever. And inclusion can go hand-in-hand with economic growth, as the World Economic Forum explains in its latest report Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 4.0, which shows that the most diverse organizations are between 25% and 36% more likely to outperform on profitability compared to competitors.

The project was presented over the course of a virtual event held this Wednesday, within the framework of European Diversity Month by Julio Mariano Carballo, who heads Vocational Training at Spain’s Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.

Meanwhile, Jaime García Cantero, content editor of Retina (EL PAÍS) at PRISA, outlined how digital transformation can lead to higher levels of inclusion and greater opportunities for the most disadvantaged, provided that it embraces sustainability, in line with the Principles set out by Forética within the framework of the JOBS 2030 project. Those attending the virtual meeting also analyzed inclusive high-impact initiatives run by ManpowerGroup, Fundación ONCE and the Fundación Bertelsmann.

About the project

Companies can participate in the project JOBS 2030: Future of Work by following this link and sharing their initiatives. These should focus on one of three strategic areas: people-centered technological transformation; promotion and development of talent, skills and knowledge; and diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The selected projects will be promoted at a European level as the very best solutions by Spanish companies as they face the challenge of the future of work.

The project, led by Forética, has the institutional support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, and the collaboration of a range of companies and organizations such as Grupo PRISA, ManpowerGroup, the Fundación ONCE, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and CSR Europe.

Other partners include the regional governments of Aragon, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Madrid, Murcia and Navarra, together with Tenerife, and the following business organizations: the Chamber of Commerce of Cantabria, the Andalusian Business Confederation (CEA), the Madrid Business Confederation (CEIM), the Asturian Quality Club, the Club of Responsible and Sustainable Companies of the Valencia Region (CERS), Eticentre, and Visión Responsable.
