03-07-2014

For yet another season, Cadena SER reports excellent figures, both on aggregate and for all its individual programs. According to second quarter EGM data, the last of the sports season, Cadena SER has a total of 4,566,000 listeners compared to 2,714,000 for Onda Cero, ranking second in terms of audience numbers among spoken-word radio networks in Spain. According to these latest figures, COPE has 1,951,000 listeners and state broadcaster Radio Nacional de España has 1,213,000.

Cadena SER is widely preferred by radio listeners, with top ratings for its programs

Hoy por Hoy registered 2,865,000 listeners on weekdays and confirms its undisputed lead. The program presented by Pepa Bueno and Gemma Nierga, and in recent weeks by Macarena Berlin, holds a lead of 771,000 listeners over Carlos Herrera’s show on Onda Cero. The lead over COPE is of 1,850,000 listeners, and compared to RNE, SER enjoys a lead of more than two million listeners daily.

The lunchtime news bulletin anchored by José Antonio Marcos, Hora 14, clocked up 868,000 listeners. The weekend news programs, anchored by Esther Bazan, recorded an audience of 349,000 and 353,000 listeners on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively.

In the evenings, Carles Francino closes his second season hosting La Ventana with a total of 868,000 listeners. Francino maintains a considerable lead over the second-ranking show Onda Cero’s 'Julia en la Onda’, which recorded a figure of 545,000 listeners, trailing Carles Francino by 323,000. The third ranking position for evening programs is held by COPE and the fourth by RNE.

Hora 25 has improved its results over the previous EGM and reported 1,286,000 listeners. Angels Barceló is clear leader in this time slot and holds a lead over COPE’s La Linterna of 563,000 listeners, over Onda Cero of almost 725,000 and over RNE of almost one million. Hora 25 is the third most listened to spoken-word radio program in Spain from Monday to Friday.

At the weekends, Javier del Pino has also improved on his results from the previous EGM. On Saturday, A vivir que son dos días, now has close to two million listeners with 1,967,000 fans. That’s a lead of one million over Onda Cero’s Te doy mi Palabra. On Sundays, A vivir que son dos días also enjoys a comfortable lead in the morning slot with 1,744,000 listeners, compared to 820,000 for Onda Cero.

Hablar por Hablar reported 411,000 listeners daily. Milenio 3 had 660,000 listeners and Los Toros, with Manolo Molés, stands at 360,000 listeners.

Sports on SER remain unbeatable in a season marked by big sports news

Listeners chose once again to tune in to Cadena SER for sports in a season marked by major sports events such as the Liga final, the Copa del Rey, Champions League, Europa League and the start of the World Cup.

Jesus Gallego remains audience leader in lunchtime slot. SER Deportivos reported 477,000 listeners.

El Larguero improved on previous results by 131,000 listeners. 1,131,000 listeners now tune in every day. The program led by José Ramón de la Morena remains indisputable leader. The program has well over twice as many listeners as its nearest two rivals, who even together come nowhere near his 1,131,000 listeners.

Carrusel Deportivo  has also seen results improve and has considerably widened its lead over its two chief rivals, who have seen significant declines in audiences. The program, with Manu Carreño and José A. Ponseti remains the most popular  Saturday sports program with 1,572,000 listeners, 375,000 more than Tiempo de Juego. On Sundays, the gap is even greater still, with Carrusel Deportivo reporting 1,759,000 listeners compared to 1,032,000 for COPE, a difference of 727,000 listeners. This lead is all the more remarkable given that Tiempo de Juego lasts two hours longer on Saturdays and two and a half hours longer on Sundays.
